The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is just weeks away from kicking off. And its focus on accessibility shines the spotlight on what building communities that are open to everyone truly means.

What are the challenges facing people with disabilities, and how do we ensure they are overcome? How should we be designing our cities to make them accessible to all? And what is the role that each of us can play in changing perceptions, sparking conversations, and advancing accessibility?  

In this special edition of the Education City Speaker Series, jointly organized with the World Innovation Summit for Health and taking place during Doha Healthcare Week, we are delighted to welcome disability rights expert, social development scholar, and social entrepreneur Dr. Victor Pineda to explore how, together, we can build an inclusive, barrier-free future where everyone’s potential can be realized.

Introducing Qmunity Kenz, Qatar’s first community Time Bank!

Established by the community for the Qmunity and launching this week – our Time bank enables people to ‘deposit’ their time by giving practical help and supporting to others, and they are able to ‘withdraw’ their time when they need something done themselves, or they can contribute their time credits towards a community cause.

Timebanking works for everyone – individuals, organisations and society as a whole. People arrange to give time when it suits them, offering skills they enjoy using.

This photography exhibition attempts to change that perspective, as “Anfal and Nawaf” live a life like any other children, a happy and full life, where they go to school, pursue hobbies and enjoy a social life.
